Abstract: Cirrhosis is the end-stage pathological change of various chronic liver diseases, and its complications include portal hypertension with gastroesophageal varices, ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, splenomegas and hypersplenism. The most dangerous complication of cirrhosis is acute variceal hemorrhage. Although great breakthroughs have been made in the treatment of this disease in recent years with the rapid development of endoscopic technology, the mortality rate of patients is still very high, and multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment is needed to improve the survival rate of patients. This article reviews the advanced research on the treatment of acute gastroesophageal variceal bleeding.
