One case of severe tracheal stenosis treated by ultrasound-guided percutaneous tracheotomy

Abstract: Ultrasound-guided percutaneous tracheotomy(PDT) has become the first choice for critical patients, especially who has severe tracheal stenosis. Here, we report a case with severe tracheal stenosis due to thyroid carcinoma, adopted the method of PDT combining the short axis with the long axis under ultrasound guidance. First, the trachea midline was determined with the short axis, and the long axis view was obtained by rotating 90°, which was consistent with the midline marker. Then, PDT was carried out under the long axis guidance. The procedure was successful with little bleeding.
